Well I certainly did when my brother and sister in law asked me if I'd paint a wall mural in their expected babies nursery.... Well of course that sounds such fun!!!
(I am just so excited to become an auntie for the first time, eeeeeeeek!)
This isn't exactly to do with Laura Elizabeth Illustrations Products but I'll jump at any chance to paint nature and animals (my absolute fav subjects) and I thought it would be a nice project to share with you all ☺️
They have decided to have a tropical jungle themed nursery and as we don't know if its a girl or a boy I have the challenge of making it gender neutral with tons of tropical foliage and a handful of playful animal characters popping out from amongst them; a giraffe, zebra, flamingo, sloth, baby orangutan, hummingbird and butterflies. And yes, I know that you may be thinking that a giraffe and zebra don't belong in the jungle but we're using some artistic license here haha! 🙈😂
So, over the last few days I've been cracking on with the mural. I started off with a quick sketch on paper and then transferred it onto the walls in pencil giving me a rough guide to paint on. It felt a little daunting to know where to start as it's not something that I've done before, so I decided on doing all of the leaves to begin with and planned to build it up from there.
I'm using Wilko paint as they have great little tester pots which I've been mixing together to achieve the range of colours that I'm after. It's certainly trickier than I had anticipated and is taking a heck of a lot longer but it's just so so fun to create and I've been recording each step as a time-lapse so that you can follow along with my progress!
Here's the beginning video clip... hope you enjoy and make sure to check out my insta stories if you'd like to see more 🙌🏻☺️
Until next time,
